Tonight I watched the saddest movie I've seen in a long time, "P.S. I love you". This movie has some of my favorite actors in it; Gerard Butler, Hillary Swank, Harry Connick, Jr. (been a big fan of his for years), and to my surprise Jeffrey Dean Morgan (the guy who plays Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy) has a roll too --- LOVE HIM!
Don't get me wrong it was a WONDERFUL movie but I wasn't expecting it to be so sad. I haven't cried that much at a movie since I was a kid watching "My Girl" by myself. I mean it was slightly ridiculous how much I cried tonight. I looked at the DVD player and I had already shed tears 8 time in the first 50 minutes. And it was one of those good sad movies that makes you cry then moments later they have you giggling at something. I went through 3 tissues and used every square inch of them. By the time it was all done I went into the bathroom to look at myself...what a puffy, blubbery mess! To top it all off I had tissue fuzzies all over my eyes because, like I said before, I really used up those 3 tissues.
My final review: it's a great movie for when you're hanging out with just the girls. Also, an excellent movie for when you just feel like a good cry.
This past weekend I went on a road trip with Chris to Aberdeen, South Dakota. I know what you are thinking, why in the world would we choose Aberdeen for a road trip. Well, Chris had a basketball coaching clinic at Northern State University hosted by Don Meyer that he really wanted to go to and he asked me if I would tag along. I tell you what, everyone I know should plan a trip to Aberdeen...ok not really, but I did manage to keep myself busy. Basically my time was spent seeing the sights of the town. Chris was in his conference more then 80% of the time so I was mostly on my own.
Here is me posing in front of our hotel. Yep, we went all out and stayed at the Super 8. This isn't just any Super 8 though...this is the very first Super 8! Wohoo!
On Friday, since it was georgous, I went to the beach. Yep, the beach. It was a little man-made pond with dirt. They say it's sand but it was a very sandy version of dirt if you ask me. It didn't matter to me anyway I was just looking to get a small tan.
Here is the first picture we've taking of just us in probably over a year.
I also managed to get in some shopping and I bought these super fun red wedges. Unfortunately, after wearing them around my hotel room and out to a movie Friday night I thought a couple of my toes died so I returned them on Saturday.
I also took a walk down the "main street" in town. What a cute area! Unfortunately like most small towns, main streets are becoming obsolete so a lot of the buildings were closed. My favorite shop was this little second hand consignment shop that had a combiniation of home decor and kids stuff. It was awesome, I wish we had something like this where I live.
Saturday Chris wrapped up his sessions and I went to art in the park which was just down the block from the college. The drive back was long but picking up Hailey and seeing her face made us feel better. Sunday we were both exhausted but yet Chris still managed to build Hailey a sandbox with the left over sand from our construction that we had been saving. I tell ya, the guy can't sit still!
And for those of you who are curious, it took us 5.5 - 6 hours to get from the southern twin cities to Aberdeen.
I can't remember, is it the early 90's or is it 2008...I forget.
This is scary because they are not new or kids anymore. Truth is they are middle aged and Donny was in a few tv shows where he played a DAD. Their recent song on the radio is about girls in the summer....um, ish. Does anyone else find this a little weird?
Well besides the fact that we feel we need to shove more into the two days we call the weekend then we do all week, our two days went pretty good. Got some organization accomplished, some cleaning done, saw family and made another milestone with Hailey. I'd say that is quite a bit of stuff.
So Chris did 10 loads of laundry...all full loads and 90% of it was his. This is what happens when you move your closet to a new room and you realize you are seeing cloths that you haven't seen since you graduated from college 6 years ago. Needless to say our "donation" pile has grown significantly.
Saturday was also a big day as I finished painting and preparing Hailey's new room and we moved her into her big girl bed. The room is pretty plain right now but I still have some decorating to do and she is getting a blanket to go on the bed for her birthday. This room hasn't looked this big since before we moved into the house! Also an update on the potty training...we didn't have any luck over the weekend but she was a champ again this morning. Apparently it is just a weekday thing. :o)
Also, she has been very misgevious lately. This is what I found a week ago after returning from the kitchen. And yes, she did try to shove all the wipes back in the container.
Father's day brought my family down to the house which was excellent! All the kids, my parents, both sisters, and my adopted sister Mo were there. Unfortunatly, I didn't get many pictures of everyone but I managed to snap a few pics of the adorable baby of the group, Chloe. Hint, hint, Mo...I'd like copies of all the pics you were taking. :o) Pa, pa, please...
I must share the great milestone the Otterness house reached this morning. Instead of just sitting on the potty chair, Hailey actually went potty on the potty chair!!! We started adding the potty chair to the morning routine about a week ago and every morning she sat down and read a couple books, but no luck. At the same time her diaper was usually close to 10 pounds those mornings, so it only made sense that she probably didn't have to go.
Today was different. The diaper was dry and she could not help but pee after I turned on the faucet to a light trickle. :o) Her face was priceless after she actually went, it was a mixture of confusion and being completely freaked out. I think she thought she was going to get in trouble because the moment she finished she looked at me scared and said "All done." We made a big deal about it, high fives all around, and she was pretty calm. The rest of the morning she had an attitude about it like, whatever it was really no big deal. That's Hailey for ya.
Keep your fingers crossed that she keeps this going!
About two years ago my sister-in-law gave me some beautiful purple glass tear drop earrings for my birthday. Less than 3 months after I got them, I lost one...Damn. They were quickly becoming my favorite earrings so I looked everywhere and it was nowhere to be found.
We are on the home stretch with all this construction - addition business. Our friend Dan came up from Spring Grove and put in all the vanities and sinks and this past Friday they installed all the carpeting. We are now officially living in this new space. Chris and I are anxious to move into our new master bedroom. My poor couch looks so lonely in the big living room.
Here are some pictures, even though they don't do it justice.
Appraisal is next week and we close on June 4th. I seriously can't wait!
This week I'm at the Wireless Enterprise symposium down in Orlando Florida. I'm lucky enough to have my mom here with me which is so fun! My work team asked me to blog my experience on the google blogger site (sorry Vox) here is the address if anyone is interested in reading what happens along the way.

I just thought I would post a couple pictures of Hailey from the past couple of days. She is just getting funnier and funnier these days. First are pictures of her in my hat. As you can see she decided that backwards was the right way to wear it. (I swear I didn't put it on her backwards, when I tried to turn it around she said "No Mama".
These next pictures were from tonight. Apparently someone gets tired at 6pm if she doesn't take a nap.
